11/6/2006Nancy IshiiFest Theme"Neighbor helping Neighbor" This theme could help showcase all the wonderful resources we have in West Seattle. For example the Kiwanis, Toastmasters, Food Bank, Help Line, Senior Center, other volunteer and non-profit organizations that really make West Seattle a great place to live and work. You could invite these groups to the parade to showcase how they help our residents! I think this would also help give hiyu a nice boost adn more participation in West Seattle!
7/12/2006J. Manuel de LeonFest ThemeCultural diversity should be promoted ~ it would be nice to see, taste, and experience the cultural make-up of West Seattle.

6/15/2001Jason BullFest Theme"Next Stop Nostalgia" A tribute to the yester years of Seattle.
5/7/2001Cho PaeFest ThemeHAIR SALONS, Because there are moe hair salons onlong California Ave than anyplace else in the world. It's weird.I dont know how they all stay in business, unless they're some sort of money laundering operation or something.I dont know.
10/30/2000Lorrie CookFest ThemeThis is a GREAT idea and could help pay for itself as well!!! This idea of a Quilt theme was submitted to me by Marlee Draper. The main float is the "making of a quilt". A large sewing machine is in the back of the float with the different patterns of material flowing towards the front of the float. The large sewing machine moves as the float moves. The sewing machine needle goes up and down. The fly wheel goes around. This wheel can be moved with a belt. Each quilt pattern represents some aspect of West Seattle. Each block represents a member of Hi-Yu who has donated $500.00 corporate membership or maybe a club that is in West Seattle. ACCESSORIES FOR FLOAT: PIN CUSION, SCISSORS, SPOOLS OF THREAD, BALLS OF YARN, BUTTONS, THIMBLE, TAPE MEASURE.Block example: Alki Bike Shop.... A bicycle Bianchi Real Estate.... A House West Seattle High School.... An Indian Head Dr. Landino.... A smiling face with braces Husky Deli.... An ice cream cone The Alki lighthouse, Log cabin, Luna Park, etc.Themes could be: A Stitch In Time Home Spun Memories History In The Making Always In Fashion Keepsakes Of West Seattle Memories In The Making Treasured Memories of West Seattle Memories To Keep Community Treasures What West Seattle Is Made Of Fabric And Design Of West Seattle Hi-Yu Timeless Treasures Of West Seattle
10/29/2000Karen Haynes-PalmquistFest ThemeSmall Town Magic
