HI-YU
“DANCING IN THE RAIN”
August 28, 2006

MEETINGS
The meeting for September is at 7 pm on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5TH, because Monday is a holiday (Labor Day).  Meetings are currently being held at Peace Lutheran Church, which is located at 8316 - 39th SW in West Seattle.

ELECTIONS
Elections of new officers will be held at the general membership meeting on September 5, 2006.  The new officers will take office on October 1, 2006.

The nominations committee announced the following candidates:

President:  Karen Rodal
Vice President:  Melissa Gudmestad
Secretary:  Merrill Lyons
Treasurer:  Sheryl Bogie
Past President:  Loren Gulhaugen or Fran Coy

As of the August meeting, no one had committed to run for the office of Historian. The duties of the Historian include keeping records of past and on-going activities, maintaining file of all publicity for the year (with copies of published articles), as well as participating in board meetings. The Historian also has oversight over the membership area, which includes applications, newsletter, certificates, awards and recognition.

It’s not too late to run for office.  If you are interested in the office of Historian or any other officer position next year, contact Fran Coy.  Nominations may also be made from the floor at the September meeting for all offices.  New officer positions will be effective on October 1, 2006.
