HI-YU OCTOBER 31, 2006
MEETINGS The Hi-Yu general membership meeting in November will be at 7 pm on Monday November 6th. THERE IS A CHANGE OF LOCATION FOR THE MEETINGS, STARTING WITH THE NOVEMBER MEETING. Meetings will be held at Merrill Gardens at 4611 – 35th Avenue SW in West Seattle. Enter at the main door on 35th, sign in at the desk, take the elevator down to level P-1, and go to the Activities Room. If you arrive after 7 pm, you have to ring the bell to be let into the building. Parking is on the street.
COMMITTEES Committees are forming. What would you like to be involved with this year? You can plan and run events, work with royalty, help with membership or fundraising, plan and build a float . . . the opportunities are endless. Let Karen Rodal know what you would like to do. Committee work is a great opportunity to share your existing skills or learn new ones.
HI-YU ROYALTY PROFILES
Senior Court: Queen Trisha Thompson is away at school, so no report this month.
Princess Keili Geller is busy with school, but also found time to join the Youth Council for the Ruby Room, which provides prom dresses for high school girls who couldn’t otherwise afford them.
Junior Court: Queen Gabrielle Carufel made it to the meeting after racing there from soccer practice.
Princess Haley Pierce couldn’t attend the last meeting, so she should have plenty to report when we catch up with her.
Princess Hailey Miller is in 4th grade at Hope Lutheran, and enjoys choir and soccer.
The Junior Court princesses greeted those arriving for the Hiawatha Halloween Carnival. A photo is attached to the e-mail version of this newsletter.
FLOAT The float took top honors at the Mukilteo parade, earning a 1st place ribbon.
No more “Dancing in the Rain”. What theme would you like to see for next year? Many ideas are already “floating” around. Some of them are: Jazz it Up, Flying High, Winter Wonderland, Starry Heaven, Life Under the Sea, and Purple People Eater. Bring your ideas to the November meeting.
We need space to work on building the float for this year. Let the Hi-Yu officers know if you have any ideas for a work space.
