WEST SEATTLE HI-YU September 24, 2007 MEETINGS The Hi-Yu general membership meeting for August will be on Monday, October 1st at 7 pm at Merrill Gardens at 4611 – 35th Avenue SW in West Seattle.  Enter at the main door on 35th, sign in at the desk on the special Hi-Yu sheet, take the elevator down to level P-1, and go to the Activities Room.  If the door is locked to the building, you have to ring the doorbell to the right of the main door to be let into the building.  Parking is on the street.  ELECTIONS The following persons were elected for the 2007-2008 Hi-Yu year.  Tim Winston, President Tom Warnke, Vice President Lori Tongol, Secretary Kristi Webster, Treasurer Diane Szender, Historian Loren Gulhaugen, Past President COMMITTEES The Senior Court Scholarship Program, Float Program, Members/Marketing, and Junior Court Program are all scheduled to present reports at the October meeting, along with any recommendations for changes. Any revisions to the standing rules for the programs will be voted on at the November meeting. HI-YU ROYALTY Welcome to our new royalty, who start their reign on October 1st: Senior Court:  Queen Sivona Lingle Junior Court:  Queen Danica Tongol, Princess India Gants, Princess Leah McFadden, Princess Vanessa Radke and Princess Ally Warnke FLOAT The last parade for the “Pearls of the Sea” float is the Salmon Days Parade in Issaquah on October 6th at 10 am. SERVICE CLUB/NONPROFITS PUBLIC EVENTS Hiawatha Community Center The annual Fall Carnival will be held on October 26th from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm.  Carnival games, face painting, treats, and prizes.  Come in costume and enjoy the activities. Comments, suggestions, and information are always welcome.  Information on events to which the public is invited should be provided to Karen Haynes-Palmquist from our Service Club and Nonprofit Members for consideration of inclusion in the event calendar for November.  MEMBERSHIP Memberships are currently being accepted for the year which runs from October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2008.  Memberships support the various Hi-Yu activities and the scholarships for the Senior Court.  There are three types of memberships:  individual, service club/non-profit and business.  Individual memberships start at $20.00, non-profit memberships are $30.00, and business memberships start at $50.00.  If you would like more information on membership, mail your inquiry to Hi-Yu at P.
